    • What is the KM distance between the old and new address?
    • On which floor will the pickup take place?
    • On which floor will the delivery take place?
    • Does the furniture need to be disassembled on pickup?
    • Does the furniture need to be assembled on delivery?

    Get an overview of the possible costs for a move with a professional moving company. The following average prices are only a guide and should be taken into account when considering the factors mentioned above:

    • 1.5 room apartment from CHF 740
    • 2.5 room apartment from CHF 890
    • 3.5 room apartment from CHF 1,380

      How much does the move cost without a professional moving company?

      Are you considering organizing your removal yourself? Here are the costs you should consider:

      Costs for removal helpers:
      When friends help, they often do it for free. An invitation to a meal as a thank you is great. If friends are not available, you can hire students or other part-time helpers – around 45 francs per helper per hour.

      Costs for the removal van:
      Prices vary depending on the size of the van, around 75 to 260 francs per day. A rule of thumb: 10 cubic meters per room. Check the conditions carefully to see whether a mileage allowance is included or not.

      Distance of the apartments:
      Factor in fuel costs for the distance between old and new home if not included in the rental price.

      Costs for the no-parking zone:
      Especially in cities: organize parking spaces in front of the apartments in good time. Depending on the canton, 10 to 90 francs. Observe the parking bans at both apartments.

      Expenses for moving materials:
      Up to 6 francs per moving box. In addition to boxes, you will need filling material and blankets, about 30 boxes per person. Ask your friends for available materials.

      Moving food:
      Provide your helpers with food (approx. 12 francs per person). Invite them to dinner after the move to thank them.

      Keep an eye on the costs:
      Create a spreadsheet with estimates in good time and gradually update it with the actual expenses to keep track.

          What does the checklist for a removal look like?

          Have you signed the tenancy agreement for your new apartment? Congratulations! Now it’s just a matter of time. The following steps are important as soon as you receive confirmation of your new apartment.

          Set a moving day:
          Request a day off from your employer.

          Terminate the rental agreement:
          Remember the notice period of three months and send the notice of termination by registered mail. Use our template in the blog.

          Plan your move:
          Decide whether you want to move with or without a moving company. Get quotes early on and compare prices.

          Final cleaning:
          Get quotes for the final cleaning if you don’t want to do it yourself. Make sure you get an acceptance guarantee.

          Four weeks before the move:
          Organize moving boxes and other packing materials. Report any rental damage and repairs.

          1 to 2 weeks before the move:
          Arrange for a no-stopping zone or reserve parking spaces. Arrange the date for handing over the apartment. Pack up things you no longer need.

          Address changes and re-registrations:
          Register your change of address with important providers and offices. See the following list for guidance:

          Check the condition of the new apartment with the management. Prepare cleaning materials and pack the essentials for the first night.

          Moving day:
          Pickup the moving truck or await the movers. Pack the van carefully and help the helpers. Make a note of the meter readings.

          After the move:
          Take care of the final cleaning of the old apartment. Check and sign the acceptance report. Notify the authorities and contractors of any changes of address.
